Our origins | DHL and You2You, a shared ambition to re-invent the last-mile delivery

Most end-customers aren’t home during the day, when courier and delivery service trucks circulate throughout the city along their delivery routes. This poses a major challenge for delivery services, forcing them to search for new solutions allowing them to reach end-customers during the evening, on the weekend, and during time-slots pre-defined by the client.

According to Philippe Prétat, CEO of DHL Express France, “this new partnership with You2You strengthens our existing processes. By adopting new delivery methods we aim to boost our performance, provide greater delivery flexibility, and to improve our customer’s experience and satisfaction.”

Affirmation A successful test in Paris

From July to September 2017, DHL and You2You established two test Urban Relay Points, one in central Paris and one in the Parisian suburbs. The results were unprecedented: less than 3% of deliveries failed on the first delivery attempt, requiring nearly no Customer Support intervention. Relayed was born and DHL is convinced.

April 2018 Official launch

In April 2018 the partnership is officially launched on a large scale, accompanied by a new infrastructure : an entire community of bike-messengers.

The first official Urban Relay Point opens in Paris’ 9th Arrondissement, allowing Relayed to cover all of north-eastern Paris, and is eventually complemented by a network of five other Urban Relay Points covering the nearby Hauts-de-Seine and Seine Saint-Denis suburbs.

Between July and December 2018, Relayed is deployed in Lille, Bordeaux, Nancy, and Marseilles. The service is set to be deployed nationwide throughout 2019.
